Wisconsin Republicans admit that they are going to run fake Democrats to force a Democratic primary in order to stall the July 12 recall elections for six Wisconsin senators.
In letters sent to conservative voters, corporate head John Buckstaff and Wisconsin senators are encouraging their voters to field fake Democratic candidates so that the recalled senators could "mount a campaign" and give the recalled senators more time to run attack ads.
"We need to make sure Democrat challengers face primaries to allow our Republicans time to mount a campaign," chairman of the 6th Congressional District Republican Party Dan Feyen wrote.
"A Democratic primary," Feyen continued, "will push the general election back by one month so that Senator Hopper can have more time to organize a campaign against his liberal challenger."
Recalled Wisconsin state Senator Dan Kapanke encourages these fake primaries and hopes Wisconsin voters are "sleeping" during the recall elections, possibly believing that the recall primaries might stir some confusion among voters.
"We’ve got tons of government workers in my district - tons. From La Crosse to Prairie du Chien and to Veroqua and to Ontario and to Hillsboro, you can go on and on and on. We have to overcome that. We gotta hope that they, kind of, are sleeping on July 12th - or whenever the (election) date is."
The letters, sent out from Buckstaff and Rol Church said, "A Democratic primary will push the general election back by one month, so that [the Republican] can have more time to organize a campaign against his liberal challenger."
As of now, there are three fake candidates known for contributing almost exclusively to the Republican Party running against the Democratic challengers. One of these candidates is former GOP lawmaker Otto Junkermann. Republicans are expected to field three more fake candidates to provide a primary for all six Democratic challengers.
Nothing like wasting thousands of taxpayers dollars on needless primaries -- when Gov. Walker is all about cutting spending and disbanding unions -- for a partisan advantage.
State Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald "fully endorsed the idea Tuesday of fielding fake Democrats in recall elections against Republicans in an effort to delay the general elections," according to the Journal Sentinel.
Rachel Maddow of MSNBC admitted that dirty tricks and underhandedness in election processes have been around since elections existed, but noted that you aren't supposed to admit to it.
"You have to at least pretend that you have some principles about these things."
