US soldiers dead after FL preacher burns Qu'ran

Link:

I hope you're happy, religious far right.  Your shenanigans just killed 2 US soldiers and over 20 people total and counting in Afghanistan for your little book burning ceremony.  The upcoming "fighting" season is projected to be the worst yet.  You just had to post this on YouTube, didn't you??  Thank you for undoing YEARS of work done by US soldiers.  I hope their deaths haunt you forever!

  1. Thank you for your comment. I was not condemning the preacher's civil right to free speech; I was only expressing that I hope he takes responsibility for actions. Nobody is a bigger defender of civil rights than myself. These soldier's died because of a direct action taken by this preacher. Yeah, soldier's die; they sign up for this, especially guys in the infantry like I was, but do we need to escalate things just because we know our troops will spill their blood and you can be safe posting youtubes of a buring Qu'ran? Everyone has rights; responsible execution of these rights is our duty like it is our soldier's duty to protect them. Like I said, I am not questioning his civil right to free speech; I just hope this asshole is tormented by his actions for the rest of his life.

  2. If even half of the attention that's being wasted on this one moron was spent condemning the true murderers, we may actually get somewhere in our fight. This idiot could disappear tomorrow and these fanatics would continue to murder in the name of whatever convenient excuse they find. Being stupid and posting a YouTube video isn't ever an acceptable justification for rioting and murder. You can't capitulate to murderous and outrageous behavior or it will just escalate. That's why we can't negotiate with terrorists or kidnappers. It only serves to encourage that behavior. If he didn't do it under threat of violence, what would the next demand be? I, for one, refuse to be held hostage to a bunch of violent murderers regardless of whether I personally think the moron should have chosen a different path. He cannot be held responsible for the actions of other people, that's just lazy - it's too hard for us to actually get angry and condemn the religion that supports murder when insulted. Where are the billions of Muslims crying out against these actions? They don't exist. It's time the world wakes up - the "religious far right" is nowhere near as much of a threat to peace as even a moderate Muslim.

  3. I absolutely agree with you. The real problem is the Muslim extremist in these situations.
As I have said before, I do not condemn his action of free speech, I just hope he is aware of what he caused. You are absolutely correct in saying that we shouldn't be held hostage to our actions because of extremists as well. The thing is, extremists, in any form, are dangerous. And trust me, this country is spending plenty of attention on these extremists. You can't go a day in the news without hearing about protests, car bombs, ied's, sharia law, anti-mosque movements, King trials, et al. That idiot has disappeared and the Muslim extremists are, in fact, still out there killing. My only point for the post, and I believe I made it clearly, was that I hope the preacher realizes what his actions caused, even though they were legal (but cross burning isn't?). I will restate, just as it is the soldier's duty to protect our rights, it is our duty to exercise them responsibly. I don't think it is too much to ask that we help our soldiers in anyway we can, even if it is limiting our constitutional right to burn books and post them on youtube.

That just didn't give me the sense that the blame was being placed on the Muslims. If it was and I just misread it, I apologize.
