VIDEO: More hypocrisy from the right: Ayn Rand or Jesus? You can't have both

Link:

Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged was recently made into a movie and is being promoted vigorously on the Fox News Channel.  GOP leaders are flocking to this and are somehow trying to tie Rand's values with the Christian religion.

Rand, whose books inoculate its readers with anti-Christian morals, is the last person Christians should be listening too.  I am not trying to tell anyone what to believe, that is your own choice, but Christian's must ask themselves, "Is the GOP really the party of Christian fundamentals?"
Here is a quote outlining Rand's fundamental belief:
"I am against God.  I don't approve of religion.  It is a sign of psychological weakness...I regard it evil."
These aren't words taken out of context or a rare slip up from the author.  Rand was very calculating, and she expressed these beliefs regularly to anyone that would ask.
Below is an excerpt from an interview conducted with Rand while she was still alive:
MAN:  You are out to destroy almost every edifice in the contemporary American way of life... Our Judeo-Christian religion... You scorn churches and the concept of God.  Are these accurate  criticisms?
RAND:  Yes.  I am the creator of a new code of morality...a morality not based on faith.

Anybody that reads Rand knows this to be fundamentally true.

Again...I am not telling you what to believe.  If you like Ayn Rand, good for you.  All I am asking is that if you are a Christian that belongs to the GOP, maybe it is time to reconsider.

Hear are some noteworthy GOP pundits and politicians and their view on Rand:

"Ayn Rand, you've got to love Ayn Rand. She's great." -- Glenn Beck
"Rand more than anyone else did a fantastic job of explaining the morality of capitalism, the morality of individualism... It's that kind of thinking, that kind of writing that is sorely needed right now." -- Author of the GOP Budget, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)
"I am a fan of Ayn Rand, and I've read all her novels." -- Senator Rand Paul (R-KY)
"The brilliant writer and novelist, Ayn Rand."-- Rush Limbaugh
It is clear that the GOP favors Rand and loves her.  They are constantly praising her and her values.  How can Christians support a party that praises such a woman that hates Christianity and the very idea of god?
Noted conservative evangelical icon, Chuck Colson had this to say about Rand and her conservative followers:
"Christians cannot support Rand’s philosophy and Christ’s teachings. The choice is simple: Ayn Rand or Jesus Christ. We must choose one and forsake the other."
To me, the choice for Christians seems clear.  I have always wondered myself why Christians continually follow a party that is so against their own religion.  I think it is time we try to show our Christian conservative brothers and sisters the real mission of the GOP...a mission that doesn't support Christianity.
